267 billion VND walking street along Nhu Y river

Hue City – The 1.6 km long walking route along the Nhu Y River has been completed after more than two years of construction and is open to the public.

The walking path along Nhu Y River, 1.6 km long, 6 m wide, starting from Da Dam (adjacent to Huong River) and ending at Van Duong Bridge, passing through Thuan Hoa and Vy Da wards, with a total investment of more than 267 billion VND.

The project started in July 2023, part of the Hue City water environment improvement project with a total cost of 24.8 billion yen from Japanese ODA loans, implemented since August 2015. According to the plan, the walking route was completed in June 2024, but to date it is still in the completion stage due to fluctuations in the yen exchange rate, which greatly affects the project’s capital structure.

After more than two years of construction, the embankment and walkway along the Nhu Y River have taken shape, creating a new look for the landscape on both banks, reducing the discharge of domestic wastewater directly into the river.

The walking route along Nhu Y River through Thuan Hoa Ward has been completed by the construction unit. The road surface is paved with granite, the railing is made of stainless steel, powder coated.

To build a riverside walkway, the contractor must drive concrete piles to build a river embankment.

Many houses that used to be located in dead-end alleys near the Nhu Y River have now become street fronts. Many homestays and coffee shops have been opened by the locals along the road to serve tourists and locals.

Along the route, the construction unit has arranged many water stations so that people and tourists can use river water when needed. The entire route has 11 water stations, the top of the stations is paved with granite, with two steps up and down close to the water surface.

The green tree system has been planted along the route. In addition to oil palm trees, the construction unit also planted royal poinciana trees; the green tree system along the houses is retained.

People living along the Nhu Y River cycle on the road that is about to be completed. The completed road not only changes the urban appearance but also contributes to beautifying the riverside landscape.

The 36-meter long arch bridge across That Lat canal adjacent to Nhu Y river is located on the completed walking route, the bridge is painted blue.

The oasis on the Nhu Y River is located next to the walking path that has been retained and reinforced by the contractor with a system of concrete piles. There is still a household living on the oasis, fishing on the river every day.

The Nhu Y River walking path will connect with the Huong River walking path at Da Dam, forming a continuous axis.

According to the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Area 1, the auxiliary items of the walking route are being urgently constructed and are expected to be completed this year.

The parking lot of more than 1,300 square meters adjacent to Da Dam is paved with granite, and the median strip is planted with oil palm trees for landscaping. In recent days, many tourist vehicles have parked here, contributing to reducing traffic congestion on Le Loi Street.
